For your Job Search or Career Planning

Depending on where you are in your job search or career planning we have programs to assist you.

Available Services:

  • Employment Counseling & Assistance with Career Planning

  • Job Search Skills: resumes, cover letters, interview material

Community Job Search Centre:

  • Access to fax, phone, computers, photocopier, Internet for job search

  • Job Board with local listings

If you have an active employment insurance claim; have been on EI in the past 3 years, or maternity/parental EI in the past 5 years you may be eligible to participate in the following programs:

  • Skills Development (training)

  • Self-Employment Program

  • Work Experience Program

Persons with Disabilities Program: (for those who Qualify)

·   Program is designed to help people with disabilities prepare for and obtain employment or self-employment. It can also help develop the skills a person requires to get and maintain a new job. It can provide financial assistance for: skills upgrading, wage subsidies, self-employment and others. 

    

    Employ-Ability Has Openings in a Pre–Employment Program Designed for Participants with Physical Disabilities

Offered at no cost to qualifying clients, our Employ-Ability program serves people with all types of physical disabilities including permanent or chronic physical disability, mobility problems, loss of vision, agility loss, chronic pain, hearing loss, or other physical challenges that are a barrier to employment.

The people we serve have a goal of achieving either full time or part time employment, self employment or education leading to employment. Self referrals are accepted.

We work in partnership with other programs and individuals who live in regions where there is no community support for programs such as this. This program is delivered live online for those with distance challenges.  The EA program provides the support you need to prepare you for employment, overcome obstacles and barriers created by your physical disability.

How do people get started?

You may self refer and call to book an appointment to talk to us. The major qualifications are that you have a physical disability that is a barrier to employment and have been unemployed or employed for 20 hours or less a week for the last 3 years.

Course Start Date

The next session starts on January 3, 2012. The program is 12 weeks long. We present classes in live time via the internet. Classes are held Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm BC time
