ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This temporary full-time position provides coverage for an employee leave and is anticipated to last approximately one year. (Possibility of extension)

As an Early Childhood Educator (ECE), you'll play an important role in creating a safe, caring, and inclusive environment where infants and children up to five years of age feel a sense of belonging and are supported to grow socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, culturally, and spiritually.

Guided by relationship, respect, and holistic child development, you will:
• Plan, organize, and deliver engaging early learning programs that support children's intellectual, emotional, physical, social, cultural, and spiritual development.
• Provide quality care that promotes healthy development, positive choices, age-appropriate learning, and active play.
• Lead children in creative, educational, cultural, outdoor, and recreational activities that foster curiosity, confidence, resilience, and well-being.
• Build trusting and respectful relationships with children, families, coworkers, Elders, and community members.
• Support and mentor Early Childhood Education Assistants and Child Care Assistants while helping maintain high standards of care and early learning.
• Help strengthen children, families, and community connections through a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally safe environment.
• Maintain accurate documentation, observations, and required program records.
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, ethical conduct, and respect for child and family privacy.
• Perform other related duties as required.

WORK SETTING
Regular hours are Monday to Friday, between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.
Employees may be required to attend up to two evening staff meetings per month.
This is an active childcare role that involves working directly with young children, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Safe footwear is required.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING

Knowledge & Experience:
• Valid Early Childhood Education Certificate.
• Current BC Licence to Practice (or transferable out-of-province equivalent).
• Completion of required ECE practicum.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or willingness to renew through employer-paid training).

Skills & Abilities:
• Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and respect for child and family privacy.
• Builds positive relationships with children, families, coworkers, Elders, and community members.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Comfortable using computers, email, and basic software applications.
• Demonstrates safe work practices and adaptability in a team environment.

Other Requirements:
• Compliance with BC Immunization program and TB Screening.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector)
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and Drivers Abstract, and reliable transportation.

Optional/Assets:
• Ability to speak Dene and/or Cree.
• Other certificates such as: WHMIS, Food Safe.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities.
